Press Release - 20 October
2006
BBEG write to Cllr
John Rylatt, Conservative Member for Boston Borough Council
(Kirton Ward)
Dear Cllr Rylatt
We hope you don't mind us writing to you directly, but with
you being a relatively newly elected Member of Boston Borough
Council representing Kirton since February 2006, we would like
to ask for your personal opinion on how you have found the Council's
claim made only this week that, "all four parties are united
in the need for a bypass", which of course will include
yourself.
As you know, the Conservative Members for Boston also recently
thanked the public for their support in the BBC Radio Lincolnshire's
Breakfast Show bypass feature for Lincolnshire earlier this
year, which resulted in 81% of the people of Lincolnshire who
texted the show recognising Boston as the highest priority for
a bypass in Lincolnshire.
However, our MP Mark Simmonds told us that our calls for a
delegation to meet with the Transport Secretary were premature,
as 'local agreement has not been reached' and the results of
the Transport Study had not been made public yet. Do you agree
with Mark Simmonds comment that 'local agreement has not been
reached'?
We have also just learned this week, that the Transport Study
results have now been put back yet again to January 2007.
Please would you also confirm that you were not in fact the
"gentleman from Kirton" who emailed the BBC Radio
Lincolnshire's Breakfast Show when it was hosted from Boston's
Market Place on 10 March 2006, proclaiming that, "Boston
doesn't need a bypass."
We look forward to hearing your views, as I'm sure do the people
of Kirton who elected you.
Thank you in advance.
Yours sincerely
ROBERT FISHER
for and on behalf of the Boston Bypass & Economic Growth
Pressure Group (BBEG)

BBEG Meet MP
The BBEG have met with Mark Simmonds MP.

BBEG Chairman Robert Fisher states: "It was
a very revealing meeting, and it also gave us the
chance to reaffirm our group's stance that a bit-part
solution will not be acceptable - we do not want
to be passed off with another John Adams Way by
widening existing roads - the only solution is the
provision of a decent road infrastructure around
the town."

In The News (June)
The BBEG's comments appeared in the Boston Target
in June under the headline "Roads study on
its way (like the town traffic, it's been held up)".

The BBEG stated, "At the public meeting held
in November 2004 about Boston's dire traffic situation,
one of the most over-whelming comments made by the
public was that something needed to be done about
the number of traffic lights in the town. Richard
Wills later stated at the meeting with the Leaders
of both Councils that, "he knows best"
and "the traffic lights are here to stay".
How can one such individual have so much authority
in the County and make such a final statement?".
