Dear Mr Simmonds

Thank you for your letter of the 4th May and we well understand the reasons for the delay in your letter.

It is pleasing to see that you agree with our analysis of the problems associated with the infrastructure in and around Boston and with the fresh intake of Borough Councillors it is hoped that we can all work together to get a quick solution to this problem which not only affects Boston but Skegness as well.

You can rest assured that both the Pressure Groups and Boston Borough Council together with yourself and hopefully Lincolnshire County Council will work towards getting a satisfactory outcome for the benefit of all.

My letter of the 28th March suggested that a way forward might be an approach to the European Union as there could be the possibility that we now fit into their criteria for funding for road infrastructures. You did not mention in your letter if you had contacted your MEP colleague but if not, we would ask if you could do so on our behalf as I am sure you would agree, a more favourable response could be given to you. Perhaps you would be kind enough to let me know if you will do this for us.

We also note that at our meeting with yourself on the 29th September you mentioned that it was too early to arrange for a small delegation to meet the Transport Secretary or the East Midlands Regional Assembly. Valuable time has already been lost in this respect and we wonder if you now consider the time is ripe for a meeting.

May we take this opportunity to thank you in anticipation of your help.

Yours sincerely

BBEG Chairman Robert Fisher states: "It was a very revealing meeting, and it also gave us the chance to reaffirm our group's stance that a bit-part solution will not be acceptable - we do not want to be passed off with another John Adams Way by widening existing roads - the only solution is the provision of a decent road infrastructure around the town."
